Happy Birthday to Gomer and Adolpha

On this day in 2004 we welcomed Gomer into our family.  He arrived a month early and freaked me out when he ended up in the NICU.  After a rocky start he ended up being the easiest, happiest baby.

Happy Birthday Gomer AND Adolpha!
On November 9, 2006 we put Gomer to bed and he had just learned how to say "Happy Birthday!"  He was practicing for the next day and I felt the first pangs of labor.  I knew that the next day wouldn't just be his birthday.

Sure enough on this day in 2006 Adolpha arrived to complete our family.  Yup.  Two babies, same day, just two years apart.  Nope.  We didn't schedule them, they both came naturally on the same day.  I'd like to think they're pretty rare and special.

All day long random hospital  staff kept stopping in my room while I labored.  "Are you the lady giving birth two years later to the day?" they kept asking me.

In between my breathing (hee hee hee hee) I would say, "Yes!  Could you please close the door on your way out?  My business is hanging out here."

Just when I was starting to feel like a rock star my brother sent me an email to bring me back down to earth.  He attached an article about a woman who had given birth earlier that week to her third child on the same day.  It said something to the effect of:  I know you think you're something special and you think you're hot shit, but I found this article on Yahoo's front page this morning and you're nothing compared to this lady.  It looks like you'll need to go for 4 kids if you want to top her.

We all know I'm not an over achiever, so of course I stopped after two.

Happy Birthday to your kiddos!

We are actually adopting a sibling set from Bulgaria. Our son's 7th birthday is today too! We pick him up from the orphanage of Thanksgiving day and his sister up on Black Friday. :)

Apparently this happens pretty often. My brother was born on my first birthday. This confused people because we shared a birthday but were in different grades. I told the other kids we were twins but that he was stupid so he got held back :)

Happy birthday gomer and adolpha.

Happy birthday to them, and happy no-longer-pregnant day to you! Please thank them on behalf of all of us for making us laugh (and I still think Gomer should do a guest post).

We were close! My daughter's birthday is December 28, and my son was born December 21. So, a week apart with Christmas in the middle. Talk about broke!!

I was my mothers birthday present. My step daughter also shares our birthday.
I hope you punched your brother in the... throat for that email

Too funny! Sharing b-days is common in my family - usually amongst cousins. But one of my 3 little sisters decided to ruin my 8th birthday and arrive 3 weeks earlier than expected. OK, she didn't ruin it, and I didn't even think that as an 8 yr old - I loved it and it's been nothing but fun ever since :) Happy Birthday to your precious Gomer & Adolpha!

Happy Birthday Gomer and Adolpha! My two don't share a birthday, but my oldest was born on my 27th birthday. I like to tell people I gave my birthday to my son. I think 27 is a good age to stay forever.

My oldest son was born on November 10, 1995. four years later I gave birth to my second son on November 7th, but he was not due for another 16 weeks. My 1 lb 11 oz. preemie came on the day that I had scheduled a huge party for my oldest at Chuck E Cheese! After being up all night with me in labor and our son coming at 5:30 in the morning, my husband had to leave the hospital to host the birthday party without me. My mom stepped into help. Thank God! Of course my oldest still to this day will say that his brother was the best Birthday present he ever got, even if he did come way to early!

Mine are close. I went into labor with my twin boys on my middle son's second birthday. They are two years and 14 hours apart. For a couple of years people thought I had triplets.

I gave birth to my daughter on my birthday only a couple of hours before my exact time of arrival twenty years prior. She loves telling everyone that she is about to be ten, but her mother is going to be thirty. She started telling people this two years ago in the middle of my grandmother's church while they were singing her happy birthday.
Happy birthday to you're 'angels' and tell The Hubs he will never ever have any excuse to forget their birthday. :-)

Valentine's Day babies, eh? Yep...both of my children have March birthdays - 12 days apart. Any guesses when our anniversary is? End of June in case you have trouble counting 9 months backward.

Happy Birthday to Gomer and Adolpha!

My boys both had the same due date, my birthday. The first was 2 week early and the 2nd 2 weeks late. Instead we have a steady supply of birthday cake & ice cream for 6 weeks. :)

My husband's oldest daughter and youngest daughter were both born Christmas Eve 11 years apart with two different mothers!! Happy Birthday to your little treasures!!

I think you just topped the OAM's.......you have a OAV (Over Achieving Vagina) At least you don't have to remember 2 birthdays. I'm constantly mixing up the dates/months of my kid's birthdays.

Very exciting...we picked our son up on Mothers Day. Our son has two birthdays, his actual birthday and his coming home party...the day he joined us. Adoption is a wonderful thing...we thank god everyday for our son. Congratulations on your new family.

My oldest was born on my 31st birthday, she was 5 weeks early. I went into labor after a tornado hit our house...

She was a NICU baby too, but still my favorite birthday present!

My friend has the same deal - 2 kids, 2 years apart to the day. Another friend has half siblings born on the exact same day as each other - one is her mom's, the other is her dad's. I think that's cool!

Yup, here's another one - my husband and his sister are one year apart - same birthday. Polish twins (polish last name to go with it before everyone attacks me for not being PC).

Do you and The Hubs celebrate Valentine's Day?? haha....I have a son, Lucas, & a daughter, Riley. Riley was born 11/20/2008 at 2:55am and Lucas 11/20/2010 at 3:24am...both natural and not planned! It is rare and very special! And, seriously, I couldn't afford to have THREE kids on the same day! Holy Moly...
Needless to say, we don't celebrate Valentine's Day in this household anymore! Love your blog!!

Love this!!! I think that is cool. My family has unique birthday's too. My dad is May 26th, my mom is November 26th, My little sister is October 26th and mine is February 25th. They asked my mom if she wanted to wait another day...btw I was due on the 14th. Her exact words were "Hell no would YOU want to wait any longer." Yay for cool birthdays!

Happy Birthday to the kiddos!! I hope they had a great day. My daughter's birthday is April 28th 1999. She was born on her due date. My second daughter was born on her due date also, but not the same day. I gave birth to my son on April 28, 2012. He was 3 weeks early and born on his sister's 13th birthday. Let's just rub salt into that wound. She adors him now. :)

Happy (belated) birthday to your sweet kiddos! My brother and I share a birthday 6 years apart; but the scary part is that my Hubs ALSO shares a birthday with his brother 3 years apart. He thought I was joking when we were dating and I shared that with him. He'd never heard of any other siblings that shared a birthday. :)

I read somewhere, god knows where - my brain has a weird way of remembering all kinds of useless information.
Apparently "WE" travel in packs from one life to the next.... and the theory is...that souls are reunited by their shared birthday month.... hooky sounding. But anytime I meet someone born in my month or a family or friends has a baby born in my month I always give them a once over and wonder hmmmmm where have we met before... somewhere, sometime....After reading this years ago and since I was the only one anywhere in friends or family that was an "april" I was wondering where all my "old aquaintances were"....Then all of a sudden they were everywhere in the next generation.
My son and my husband share a birthday
my brother-inlaw and his mother share one
my neice and my g'daughter share one
my daughter shares on with queen liz, and I've always wondered if she--the queen, and i've always just assumed that they were both a little---bent
I share a month with hitler and saddam hussein??? what does that say about me...That I always hold a grudge, and it's my way or the highway----yesserie!!!!

Happy birthday to your kiddos!

Myself, the hubs and our one and only offspring share the same birth month- Yippee!!!

I also share the same birthday, July 21st, with my dad's wife. She was born in 1983 and I was born in 1984. I know, I know... my dad's big pimpin' right? Gross.

Just read this...I have 5 kids and my oldest and youngest share a birthday...19 years apart. Unplanned, but both were inductions. AND, I accidentally gave them similar names. Oldest is a girl-Caty Jo and my baby is a boy-Joseph Timothy. I guess I really like "Jo(e)" :)
