Volume 2: I Just Want to Be Alone

The second volume in the best-selling I Just Want to Pee Alone series!
Don't get us wrong, we love the men in our lives – we do (most of the time). It's just that sometimes we would like them to go away. Not forever or anything like that. Just for an hour … or a day … or a weekend. We want some time to ourselves to read a good book or take a walk or do anything other than try to make a dent in the never ending mound of dirty clothes that keeps piling up on the floor on his side of the bed. We just want to be alone. All alone. Is that too much to ask?
I Just Want to Be Alone is a collection of humorous essays from 37 of the most Super Cool Lady Writers you'll find on the web. Besides me, there are many favorites: Moms Who Drink and Swear, Baby Sideburns, A.K. Turner, My Husband Ate All My Ice Cream, and Bad Parenting Moments.
Want to read some reviews? No problem. Go here and see a bunch.

I Just Want to Be Alone is available now.

Volume 1: I Just Want to Pee Alone!

Motherhood is the toughest – and funniest – job you'll ever love. Raising kids is hard work. The pay sucks, your boss is a tyrant, and the working conditions are pitiful – you can't even take a bathroom break without being interrupted with another outrageous demand.

Hasn't every mother said it before? “I just want to pee alone!”

I Just Want to Pee Alone is a collection of hilarious essays from 37 of the most kick ass mom bloggers on the web. I hand picked each kick ass blogger in this book and you won't be disappointed. You will laugh, you will cry, you will want to share this book with every mom you know.

Besides me, there are a lot of your favorites too like: Insane in the Mom-Brain, The Divine Secrets of a Domestic Diva, Baby Sideburns, and Rants from Mommyland.

If you want to read a review of the book, here is a link to some reviews on Goodreads.

Also, these four awesome, hilarious authors have given me some advance reviews for the book.

People I Want to Punch in the Throat is so good that it’ll make you want to adopt all the cats in the world. I’m not sure about the correlation, but it’s that good. It should come with a warning.”—Jenny Lawson, author ofLet’s Pretend This Never Happened

“Jen Mann has an amazing way of telling stories that will make you cringe and burst out laughing at the same time. From swinger parties to racist toddlers, she makes the suburbs unbelievably funny.”—Karen Alpert, author of I Heart My Little A-Holes

“Jen Mann says the things we’re all too afraid to say. Her honest and hilarious writing style reminds me of David Sedaris and Tina Fey.”—Robin O’Bryant, author of Ketchup Is a Vegetable: And Other Lies Moms Tell Themselves

“Jen Mann’s shrewd and unrelenting assault on the absurdity of suburban life is an honest peek into the occasional nightmare that is part of living the American dream. I love Jen. I wish she was my neighbor. It’s so refreshing to know that I’m not the only one who wants to punch almost everyone in the f***ing throat.”—Nicole Knepper, author of Moms Who Drink And Swear

Spending the Holidays with People I Want to Punch in the Throat is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Sorry, this book is currently UNavailable in North America and US territories. It has been purchased by Random House and I am adding a lot more new material to it. I'm not sure when they'll re-release it, but I can promise you it will be worth the wait!

If you really want this edition, I have a few copies left.  Click on the paypal link below. SOLD OUT!!!

This book is a collection of humorous, angry rants for mature readers.  This book isn't for your grandma - unless your grandma likes to drop the f-bomb occasionally.  I take on everything holiday from dreaded cookie exchanges to humble brag Christmas letters.  It's a fast-paced and funny read that would make a great gift for just about anyone you know who likes to laugh.

Hi Jen! Kinda weird question. How are you shipping? UPS/Fed Ex or the regular mail? UPS/Fed Ex won't leave stuff at my apartment so I just want to know if I should have it shipped to work!! Thanks! So excited!

We got our copy in the mail yesterday...nothing like getting punched by the USPS.

I saw a stack of mail sitting in the garage. I was like, oh, yesterdays mail, blah blah blah, then I spotted a book envelope on the bottom of the pile. My brain instanly clicked, I ran over there, grabbed the book envelope, sending all the other mail flying. I ripped it open like it was my publishers clearing house check (still waiting on that), and saw your book. I threw down the mailer and opened the cover as fast as I could. SMILE! My hubby laughed at me. Then I took the book to nap with me...didn't get to read any of it but it just napped with me. LOL (this sounds creepy, but I intended to read some - I was just too tired). Thanks Jen! Devan

I purchased the Nook version at Smashbooks but can't get it to download onto my Nook. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? My computer (with Windows Vista) is saying it doesn't have the correct file to open the "epub" format. I tried downloading 2 programs that said they would be able to do it but I still can't download the file onto my Nook. Help!

Jen Piwtpitt said...

Virginia, See below from Smashwords. Basically, if you attach your NOOK via USB to your computer, you can place it directly onto your NOOK - documents folder.

How do I download books to the Barnes & Noble nook?
Barnes & Noble is an authorized Smashwords retailer, so over 40,000 of the books you see at Smashwords are also for sale at B&N. For the nook, just attach the nook to your personal computer via the USB cable (makes it appear as a hard drive), and then download your books directly to your nook's My Documents folder. B&N calls the process "sideloading." Here's a video on the process:

Hi Jen, a friend sent me your blog about the Elf on the Shelf...hysterical. I was myself bitching about it today! But anyway....I am always on the lookout to gain more work creating video book trailers. Would love to help you promote your book. If you're interested, I am running a deal through December - $400 for a one minute trailer. View my work at
Hope to hear from you! Cheers, Leslie Taylor

I'm cracking up - did you know you're paired up with "Sh*tty Mom: The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us" in the Frequently Bought Together section on the Amazon page?!?
There's a Special Offers Available link right under the price so I clicked it and it brought me down the page to some buy 4 for the price of 3 thing but what caught my eye first was the Sh*tty Mom and Frequently Bought Together!!
She's been out a month longer and only has 53 reviews, whereas you have 81. I'd demand royalties if they're pairing you up without consent! ;)

just bought the kidnel e book for two reasons
1) my friend cindy used to like this blog she died suddenly a few month ago and I read it to remind me of her and also becuase I find it funny.
2) being in ireland, the kindle version means I get to read it *now* and let's face it, at a buck 50 that's pretty much a no brainer.

I just finished your book and it is totally high-larious. Thanks for making good use of my Amazon gift card and my holiday vacation. (I had promised to read at least one book over break and yours was a lot shorter than Anna Karenina.) More, please...

I bought this right before Christmas. I loved it. Your description of your mother's Christmas decorations (and process for decorating) was exhausting and hilarious!! Great Job Jen!

"I Just Want to Pee Alone" is one of the funniest books/anthologies ever! I bought the Kindle version so it's on my iPhone and I can read it whenever I need a laugh. Like when I'm waiting outside the Principal's office. Thank you!
