Would This Happen at Target?

As if you need another reason to dread visiting Wal-Mart now you need to be wary of crazy people running you down in the parking lot!

Have you heard this story yet? OK, so a teenage girl was shopping with a friend who is a new mom or is pregnant (I've read varying reports). The parking lot was very full, so when she saw a spot, the girl (not the pregnant/new mom one, but the other) hopped out to stand in it while her pregnant/new mom friend circled around. While she waited for her friend to circle around a woman came by with her big ass SUV and told the girl to move. The girl explained she was holding it for a friend with a baby. SUV lady didn't give a shit. She just hit the gas and rolled on in! The girl jumped out of the way at the last minute, but not before she got tire tread marks on jeans!

But wait, the story gets even better! After the girl is allegedly struck by the car, it comes out that the driver is a member of the school board of the district that she attends!

Now, in the past I have railed against punk ass kids, but this girl doesn't sound like one. It sounds like she was just trying to help her friend and just about got mowed over for doing so. This sounds like a grown ass woman bullying (and attempting to maim, if not kill) a young girl because she thought she could get away with it.

WTF is wrong with SUV lady? Who does this? Who rolls up in a giant car and tells a teenager to move it or lose it? Assholes. That's who. Assholes who think their need for a new tube of toothpaste is more important than someone else's need for a roll of toilet paper.

I haven't heard her excuse yet, but I'm sure it's a good one. She can say whatever she wants, but I've seen the video and it's disturbing. She can try temporary insanity or whatever. It's a stressful time of the year, every one has holiday blues, blah, blah, blah. I call bullshit. This woman is a megalomaniac who thought she could push around a kid and no one would care or believe the kid if she told on her.

Lucky for the teenage girl, the entire episode was caught on a surveillance camera.

Ugh, I should've stayed off the interweb today. It's too early for a whiskey, and this lady makes me want whiskey.

Meredith said...

I love how until she saw the camera she accused the girl of rubbing the tire to get those marks. Seriously? What an entitled b.

Standing in a parking spot is ridiculous and I can't stand people who do it, if she couldn't walk then maybe she should have had the other girl drive. Here's another idea, if the other girl couldn't drive, then park, have her friend run in and get her a wheelchair or scooter thing and drive it back out to her. That being said, standing in a parking spot does not mean that someone gets to hit her!!! Seriously, WTF is wrong with that lady???

Assholes who need a PUNCH IN THE THROAT, that's who.

Matt said...

There seems to be at least 20 empty spots about 20 feet away. "The parking lot was very full" my butt. Of course, this makes what the driver did even more objectionable, if that is even possible.

Wal-Mart parking lots are becoming the Tiananmen-Fucking-Square of stupid America. We must rise up, by shopping at Target.

Squeaky Clean Soaps said...

To answer yor title question,no. But as a seven month pregnant mom a handicapped lady in a hoop-dee DID almost hit me and my two half grown kids in the parking lot even though we were hugging the cars on the OPPOSITE side of the aisle.

Unknown said...

Regardless of whether the teenager holding the spot was right or wrong, WTF made that woman think it was okay to hit a teenage girl with her SUV? Crazy, entitled lunatic! She needs some kind of counseling or community service. If it was my daughter she hit, I would be doing jail time.

Caroline said...

SUV lady is a crazy b, but who the hell thinks it's okay to stand in a parking place to save it? Both of these people have entitlement issues, but the SUV lady was just the one willing to go all the way to CrazyTown. I agree with all of Nicole's suggestions. Since when does being pregnant or having a pumpkin seat mean you are less able than everyone else?

Grateful Mom said...

She was standing in the spot while the other girl came around to park in it. Who said anything about not being able to walk or needing a wheelchair.

Anonymous said...

That's a punk ass parent. Our generation is, unfortunately, full of them.

Unknown said...

I agree with you. The girl said it was for her friend who either gave birth or was pregnant, I'm thinking fully pregnant, Now being a mother of 4 myself, I must say being fully pregnant and having to go the store is tough. I have siatica and can barely walk. Now I am not saying it's ok to stand in the parking space. But I just feel the crazy woman driving should have had at least some heart to say "Ok you guys take it, I'm able to walk anyway" Where is consideration for others? What ever happened to the golden rule? It's like everyone is for themselves. I call these people savages. Man If it wasn't for siatica I would park far and walk, (actually I still do and drag my right leg haha) but by golly people are lazy lol

It doesn't matter why that teen was standing there, good reason or not, the driver had no excuse to drive into a kid (yes, teenagers are kids, just taller with more attitude) The spot was occupied. Period. What makes the driver so special she can't walk a few extra feet? It is pathetic. Glad the teen has it captured on video otherwise I'm sure no one would believe her.

Unknown said...

haha I agree, it's what I do just so I can walk without knowing I or my kids would get hit. Target parking spaces are SO much farther apart and safer to walk to the store with kids in toll. Walmart I'm pretty much holding every ones hands having a panic attack just to walk toward the store safely, no lie lol.

Only at Wal-Mart, and only by a woman driving a Lexus SUV. I'm sure there are some women out there who drive Lexus SUVs and aren't entitled bitches (please don't flame me, rich ladies), but I've yet to meet one.

kworthmom said...

I don't think the fact her friend was pregnant or a new Mom has any bearing on this. If you're not capable of walking through the parking lot, you're not capable of walking through the store. If her friend could not walk (but could drive?)she should've gotten her a scooter. When you read other articles on this incident they say the girls were seen laughing as the walked into the store together after. It also says the woman asked her to move, then they "exchanged words". I think this was indeed a "punk ass kid" who thought she could get away with intimidating other Walmart patrons and got called on it. Now, her Mom will sue and they'll get rich and it will teach her daughter that breaking the rules, being rude and intimidating others is the way we should behave in our society. I think if we are using the word "entitled" here it should apply to the girl, not the driver. The driver was wrong, yes. She should've used her brain and just went on to another space, but she let emotions get the better of her, and now she has to pay for that with a criminal record and loss of her school board position and most likely a big fat lawsuit.

Douche-canoe. I mean, I'm not a fan of people holding places in line or spaces in parking lots, but geez, some people need to get a grip! I personally drive an SUV, and I think we SUV drivers should park farther away, just because our vehicles take up so much space! I mean, I know how to park inside the lines, but I've seen waaaay too many SUVs and minivans straddling two and even 3 parking spaces! In FRONT! (climbs down off really tall horse)

Wow, what just happened? Now I have to go look up this damn story.

Cristina said...

This is where I just don't bother because I don't want my car vandalized while I am in the store.

True story - I have a little car, a Hyundai Accent. I was at the Target here in our town. After shopping I walked through the parking lot to my car, which wasn't parked close - probably in the middle of the aisle - and I realized there was a lady in a huge Escalade following me as I walked to the car. I got into my car and answered my cell phone, it wasn't more than "I'm on my way home" - and the Escalade lady started laying on her horn because I wasn't leaving my spot fast enough. She was literally leaning out her window swearing at me. There were empty spots just a few spaces down! So I exited out of my spot and parked down a few spots to finish my phone conversation, and had a good laugh watching her for a good ten minutes trying to put her Escalade into a compact car spot. If she would have parked a few spots down she could have been in and out of the store a few minutes sooner! People are freaking stupid.

4PeasInAPod said...

The driver is a nut, I agree. But, I had my first three kids in three years and never did I have to have someone jump out to save a parking spot for me. I just walked, big, pregnant, dragging toddlers and baby seats, it wasn't that big of a deal.

bigdawgwife said...

I'm sorry, but this board member took this thing to a whole different level of cray-cray... even if the punk ass kid did deserve to get run over, remember big bro is ALWAYS watching. My hubby is on the board, so I'm aware of the lacking respect shown them. That being said, if you're gonna run over someone, at least make it a punk ass parent!

That's OK...At the Wal-mart in Beeville, TX, someone hit a little old lady with their pick-up truck and drug her through the parking lot! It was a horrible scene...you could actually see where she was drug.

Oh yeah she'll have a criminal record yeah, cause she committed a crime. I don't care if someone did exchange words or was acting like a punk, or standing there mooning you (do people still do that) you don't get to hit them with your car!

The same thing happened to me at my local shopping centre. It pissed me off so much that I got out of my car, smiled at the woman (why is it always women?) and walked back into the shopping centre and bought a coffee. The coffee was awful, but the look on her face made it worth it.

Who cares it the girl was pregnant, had given birth, was handicapped or none of the above? Who cares if, maybe, the SUV driver was pregnant, had given birth or was handicapped? YOU CAN'T RUN OVER PEOPLE!

Meredith said...

Oh, I'm sure the girl wasn't being sweet and charming, and I'm not a fan of the standing in the space thing, but while you may occasionally WANT to run someone over with your car, you've entered a special level of entitled when you actually do it!

Amanda said...

I don't see the problem with standing in a space to save it. It's occupied. Period. What's the difference? I am not trying to be snarky, I just honestly don't understand the problem. It's not like another spot won't open up.

Diary of an Angry Pregnant Lady said...

Walmart parking lots around here are crazy normally but this takes the cake. That is nuts! No matter the girl's reasoning for standing in the spot, you can't just go around running people over for parking spots!

HA - I hadn't read that news yet, but I can't wait to to tell my mom. We were at a busy mall in Orlando and we saw a spot, but my AWESOME Honda Odyssey would fit better if I turned around to pull in, so I kicked my mom out of the car and said "save that spot" :) I no sooner turn around and find her almost getting run over by some punk people yelling at her trying to squeeze in the spot. Well, my mama is a good mama and she stood there saying, "No, my daughter is going to park here" (She was probably thinking of the grands more than me, but hey, I love her) Thankfully, the honking and yelling brought segway security man over to save my mom! It wasn't even a good spot, there were just no spots left. I parked and then told mom, "Next time MOVE! Holy moly- I didn't think I was going to get you run over!" People ARE crazy!

Amy Harrison said...

Wow. There is no excuse for this woman. I don't like it when pregnant women act like they are entitled to things, that they are in some way "special", but I don't think that was the case here. I haven't seen the video yet, but the story seems fairly reasonable, the teenager was just trying to do her friend a favor, and that's something that needs to be cultivated more. And the SUV woman was just ridiculous. Don't commit a crime just to get your own way. Even if someone else is being selfish, stupid, etc, why would it ever be worth it?

TNMom said...

Goodness! Seriously?? I don't particularly agree with standing in spots to save them (though I have tried to convince my hubby to let me do it a time or two when there were NO parking spots), but Jeeez you don't run over the chick. It looked like she accelerated when she got to her. I think she deserved whatever she got.
You always make me aware of the most obscure news Jen. :) Devan

I said to myself reading this that I bet it happened here in GA and sadly I was right. I hate walmart, giant entitlement suvs and dumbass (and often corrupt) school officials. They are all impossible to get away from in these parts.

What's even worse is that it looks like there is another parking spot available on the other side of the cart corral that the SUV lady could have chosen.

What a wack-a-doo!! A person's sense of entitlement in parking lots is getting out of control!! One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone pulls to the curb in front of a store and parks there or has their driver wait there because they're "just running in real quick." Dude, you're at a friggin Walgreens...EVERYONE is just running in real quick!!

Sten said...

What kills me is that there is an open spot right across from the one the girl was standing in.

Here's the thing--there are at least two other parking spaces right next to the one she ran over the girl to get to! This just makes me feel sick.

bigdawgwife said...

That shit goes down in Texas. I'm from Arkansas, and it's no different. Must be a Southern thing.

mom keck said...

do not run over people in any parking lot but you standing in a parking place is not a car in a parking space and move it. Your blanket laying on the ground or your book in a seat does not reserve that space for you and you new best friend standing at the front of the line is not your place saver so you don't have to wait in line like the rest of the world. How self centered and selfish can you get.

CrazyNutsMom said...

I saw this on the news. You don't bully people when they do stuff like that with your vehicle. You give them the death ray eye stare and hope they feel the burn.

It's worse that she's on the school board, big shame on her.

Unknown said...

Seconded Jenn. I'm of firm believe that anyone driving an overpriced Toyota needs to be given a very wide berth - for the health, safety and sanity of both parties.

Unknown said...

Julie - you've just reignited the small spark remaining of my faith in humanity. It'll be squashed out as soon as I bring my Civic to another big-box store and see SUVs clogging up two or three compact car spots each... but it's back and burning bright right now, and for that I thank you.

Unknown said...

Someone once said to me that I should be kind to everyone, even in the face of blatant idiocy or selfishness, because you never know what that person has gone through and why they might be acting the way they are. I'm not going to speculate on why a parking spot was being held but you never know, there could have been a very good reason her friend needed to be closer to the door. In any event, it isn't for us to judge her, but instead look at the driver and really scrutinize what it is about our culture that makes outright assault on a minor a misdemeanor offense.

fiftyfinally said...

This reminds me of the scene in "fried green tomatoes" when kathy bates backends a car of skinny bitches that took her spot. It's never happened to me, but I'd like to think that's what I would have done if someone stole my parking spot. That said...
I once set up two lawn chairs in a parking spot in front of our busy street to save the spot for a delivery truck. The dirty looks I got from cars cruising around and around looking for an empty spot ...as I'm sitting on the steps...waiting for the truck to arrive.....was priceless. But no one actually stopped to curse me out or anything. But I was waiting for it.

don't you just looooove survealence cameras....I once had to argue with someone else's insurance company over who was at fault in a parking lot accident in front of a bank.
