I Hate Hypocrites

What is wrong with this statement that was posted on a friend's Facebook wall after she pimped out my blog:

"I refuse to read this blog just based on the title.  I don't like people who pass judgment on other people for no good reason.  I think she should get to know the people she's writing about before she judges them. The Golden Rule is still golden!"

Don't judge me for judging you.
I don't have the direct quote anymore, but that was the gist of it. There was some more crap about judging with emotions, blah, blah, blah. It was sooooo self-righteous I lost interest half way through and quit reading.

I do not know the person who wrote this statement, nor does she know me.

Ironic isn't it?

WTF?  Does she even read what she writes or does she just spout so much bullshit on a daily basis it's all lost meaning to her now?

Golden rule, my ass.  She could have at least invited me out for coffee before she passed judgment on me in such a public forum.

Good thing I don't bruise (or anger) easily.  My two biggest (only at the time) fans were itching to get in on the conversation and defend my honor.  It could have gotten messy for this girl, which I don't think is what my friend intended when she posted my blog and encouraged her friends to "challenge" my opinions and tried to "stir the pot."  I didn't get stirred - Ms. Golden Rule did - I gained more followers.  How do you like me now?

I'll give her this: She's right, I don't know a lot of the people that I'm judging, but I've never said that was an important part of my process.  I don't deny that I judge - THAT'S the difference between this kettle and that hypocritical pot blathering on about how rude I am.

I (loudly) say, "These (fill in the blank) types of people piss me off and I want to punch them in the throat."

But I also say, "I'm not perfect.  My kids are not perfect.  I did not pick the perfect names for my kids to have a better chance of success in life."  I know better.  If I did, I'd have to punch myself in the throat!

I don't care that this woman doesn't want to read my blog.  (I'm actually surprised anyone except my husband and my mother read it.)  I do care that she passed judgment on me whilst proselytizing!  At first I thought it was comical and then the more I thought about it, it just pissed me off.

I hate, hate, hate "Judgy Judys" (and Johns) who claim they're not saying shit like:

"Ohhh, I'm a good Christian/Muslim/Jew/person/whatever.  I love all of God's/Allah's/Ra's/whoever's children (especially the unborn at the expense of the living)."
"Yeah, I love all people EXCEPT illegal immigrants - they need to go back to where they came from and stop ruining our country!"
"Ugh, the gays - God/Allah/Ra made us to fit together like a key and a lock (or whatever stupid new analogy they're using these days).  It's unnatural."
"Ick, homeless people - they're sooo lazy and they should just get a job!"

Shut the f*ck up already and stop spouting nonsense.  LISTEN to what you're saying, Judy and John!

All I'm asking is that you say, "I'm a racist/homophobe/asshat and I OWN it."  (I'll still punch you for these transgressions, but I'll actually have more respect for you admitting you're a dick instead of hiding behind your "I'm a good person" bullshit.)

All I can say is, it is a good thing this woman refuses to read my blog.  Now I don't have to worry about this post hurting her feelings because I don't know her well enough to pass judgment.

There's something to be said for the amount of thought and reason you put into your rants. It's not just that you "don't like the cut of their jib" and really, the point of your articles is to get a little steam off your (and your collective reader's) chest. Meh. You can't save 'em all, Hasslehoff.

I like how she gives herself the permission to judge but doesn't give you the same consideration, lol

Reminds me of a sweatshirt that I had designed for school dropoff and pickup. Black sweatshirt with Olde English script, that read, "I was thinking the same thing about you." I got plenty of big eyes and guilty looks when they deciphered the shirt. I OWN my issues. I gave up apologizing for the fact that I was: too blonde, tall, thin, smart and other things that made me stand out. I try and be a good person and have taught my kids that how you treat people is one of the most important things that people will remember. Some of my favorite people are the ones who own who they are. I've had more than my fair share of people who do the sad head tilt because they are getting ready to talk down to you while making themselves sound like the Dalai Lama. Poor things doesn't know how much fun she's missing. More for us ;)
